Lifecycle Signals Audit

We test every signal you send users outside the main product — emails, push, in-app messages, retargeting. Then we tell you if they're helping conversion or generating noise.

Your product isn't the only place you communicate with users. Emails arrive in their inbox. Push notifications interrupt their day. In-app messages appear when they log in. Retargeting ads follow them across the web. Each signal is a chance to move the user toward the next conversion — or to burn the relationship.

The Lifecycle Signals Audit tests every automated signal you send. Timing, sequence, content, segmentation, consistency between channels. We measure whether each signal serves a purpose, or whether it's just adding noise. We map the gaps — the moments when you should be talking to users and aren't — and the redundancies — the moments when you're talking too much.

The output is a clear map of your lifecycle communication, with what to fix, what to remove, what to add. Ranked by impact on retention, reactivation, and conversion.

07 areas

What this audit covers

  1. Email automation and sequences

Onboarding emails, transactional flows, win-back campaigns, abandoned-cart sequences. We test timing, content, sequencing logic, and whether the emails reach the right user at the right moment.

  2. Push notifications and in-app messages

For apps, SaaS, ecommerce with mobile. We test how often you interrupt users, whether the timing makes sense, whether each notification adds value or feels like spam.

  3. Retargeting and cross-channel coherence

Retargeting ads on Meta, Google, LinkedIn. We test what users see after they leave the site, whether the message matches the moment they're in, whether your channels coordinate or contradict each other.

  4. Messaging coherence and copy quality

The actual content of automated messages. Whether the copy is clear, whether it matches your brand voice, whether it asks the right thing of the user at the right moment. Bad copy in automated flows leaks revenue silently.

  5. Lifecycle mapping and missing signals

We map all the signals you currently send. Then we identify the gaps — moments in the user lifecycle where a signal should exist but doesn't. Where customers stall, abandon, or churn without ever being contacted.

  6. Engagement vs disengagement management

How you handle users who stop engaging. Whether your sequences keep firing on disengaged users (wasted spend, sender reputation damage), whether you have win-back logic, whether you know when to stop talking to someone.

  7. Segmentation quality

Whether your audiences are segmented in a way that produces relevant messages, or whether everyone gets the same generic communication. Bad segmentation is the most common reason automated communication underperforms.

Common questions about this audit

Is this an email marketing audit?

Email is part of it, but the audit covers all automated signals you send outside the main product — email, push, in-app, retargeting, SMS if you use it. Email marketing audits often look at the email program in isolation. We look at the full system of signals because the user experiences them together.

Do you write the new emails or sequences for us?

No. We tell you what to fix, what to remove, what to add — and how. Your team, your marketing agency, or your email specialist writes the new sequences. We don't sell content production.

We use HubSpot / Klaviyo / ActiveCampaign / [other tool]. Do you work with our tool?

Yes. We audit the output, not the tool. Whether you use HubSpot, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, Customer.io, Braze, or anything else, we look at what the system actually sends to users. We don't recommend tool changes unless the tool itself is the constraint.

Do you also check our tracking on email and push performance?

As with every audit, we verify that your tracking is reliable enough to support the analysis. If open rates, click-through, or attribution are misconfigured, we flag it. We don't sell a separate analytics audit.

We don't have many automated flows. Is the audit worth it?

Often yes — for the opposite reason. The audit identifies the gaps. If you only have a welcome email and nothing else, the audit tells you which sequences would have the most impact to add, in what order. The roadmap is forward-looking, not just corrective.

How long does it take?

Two to four weeks, depending on the volume of signals you have running.

What you receive

  • A complete map of your active lifecycle signals across channels
  • An assessment of each signal: keep, fix, remove, add
  • Identification of missing signals — gaps where users should be reached but aren't
